Arashiyama, Kyoto

4.3
#6 of 783 in Things to do in Kyoto
For centuries a source of respite and escape, Arashiyama offers a glimpse of natural beauty outside of Kyoto. The district has a variety of outdoor activities: visit the Japanese macaques in the monkey park, or take a rowboat out onto the lake. Don't miss the bamboo grove, a gentle uphill trail through densely packed stalks, ending at a historic imperial villa and its surrounding landscaped gardens. • The most beautiful place to go someone from Kyoto. Beautiful village, beautiful parks, unique churches and of course the beautiful forest of bamboo. The images and feelings don't fit into words.

  • Arashiyama is close to home so often come out for a walk, but nowadays is invaded by tourists but the season of cherry blossoms and autumn leaves the road and walk straight in. Here similar to other tourist destinations to visit in the early morning recommend the.

  • This is by far my favourite place in Japan. The serenity and scenery is an absolutely beautiful experience. I loved the weather (went twice in Spring and Winter) and all the shops along the streets. Every restaurant/dessert shop was so very tempting and mouthwatering.
  • This is a very beautiful area that reflects old Japan. It can be very busy because it is home to the Bamboo gardens and a monkey park. We enjoyed the Monkey park (where wild monkeys come to socialize and take snacks). The bamboo forest was beautiful but very crowded. Much of the area is geared towards tourists and there are many restaurants and souvenir shops.
  • The Best thing that you shoud do in there, is bicycling. I extremely suggest you that when you arrive in Here, rent a bicycle first. you can see a lot view and go everywhere. It'so amazing time for me.
  • The most famous bamboo forest in Japan. Need to bring comfortable hiking shoes, umbrella or light rain jacket.
  • Arashiyama is a wonderful place in Koyoto. We rented bicycles near Saga- Arashiyama station. We had a great day. It's recommended for people who like nature.

Where to stay in Kyoto

Kyoto spoils visitors for choice when it comes to good accommodations, offering everything from traditional ryokans to luxury Western-style hotels. In a city used to receiving foreign travelers, you'll find that most establishments know exactly what to offer tourists and how to help newcomers to the area. To avoid paying premium prices during the cherry blossom season, consider staying in Osaka, located just a 30-minute train ride away. If you must stay in Kyoto itself, keep in mind that centrally located hotels charge more than those in the outer neighborhoods.
