Tokyo Tower, Minato

4.2
#3 of 2,120 in Things to do in Tokyo
Symbolic of Japan’s economic rebirth after World War II, Tokyo Tower stands proudly at a height of 333 m (1,092.5 ft), defining the Tokyo skyline with its orange and white stripes. This lattice steel tower, modeled on the Eiffel Tower, holds a communications tower and two observation decks. Reach the decks by elevator or by climbing the 600 stairs to take in a view of the city below. Directly beneath the tower, visit the four-story building that houses restaurants, souvenir shops, and an indoor amusement park. • It is the Tokyo Tower. Sounds good. Nice colors and they lost height in the sky, but, good height and easy on the eyes. Will warm your hearts are lit up in the cold at night, feel the warm colors, and what not. If so there is a lot of souvenirs to find souvenir shops, is the Tokyo Tower OSS me!

  • Tokyo Tower, was renovated. Even giving up a competitive advantage in height and features in the sky, is a symbol of.

  • The Wangte, formerly known as the Japan area's electric wave communication tower, is now a good place for the sights and the night view, plus the famous Marine exhibition, which attracts a lot of visitors.

  • It is iconic and the view isn't bad. It was worth the price of admission to see a little more of Tokyo and to say I'd been there, but strolling through the parks was much more enjoyable. Like so many things it's also a tourist trap. There's a 'theme park' on the tower and a number of fast food options and gift stores.
  • Reminiscent to the Eiffel Tower of France, the Tokyo Tower of Japan is an iconic symbol of a city, and a country, that is very proud of its heritage. This magnificent, fluorescent architectural structure stands above a country rich in history, and culture, a marvel to witness as one visits the amazing capital of a beautiful nation. As you climb onto the tower, watch as it illuminates in the night sky, surrounded by a sea of neon lights from below, the Pacific coast to the East, and the gargantuan geological symbol of Japan, Mount Fuji, to the West. It will be a visit to remember.
  • Great building with breathtaking views and well managed place. The one piece tower is an absolute delight for all one piece fans. It is brilliant in all ways imaginable. The tower is a little crowded at times is all.
  • Great place to go for the tourist experience. If you're a photographer, it's really good to get some great skyline photos or even architectural photos of the tower itself. Anime fans also have a place to buy figures and goods as well, especially for One Piece. At the moment they're in the middle of some kind of construction so there 250m area is closed off.
  • Tokyo Tower is a great landmark to visit for first time in Tokyo. For approx. 1,000 yen per adult, you can take the elevator up to the first observatory desk (not the highest one, the one in the middle) and you can still see above the entire city all around including seeing Mt. Fuji from afar. They also have many souvenir shops on the observation desk level and lower levels so there is a lot to choose from for unique souvenirs. In addition, the staff is very friendly and there's a cafe and other snack shops in lower levels. A must see in person and great for taking photos or videos above the city.

Where to stay in Tokyo

Tokyo abounds with excellent places to stay, from luxury affairs to humble budget-friendly lodgings. Its glittering skyscrapers house numerous international four- and five-star hotels, both in the populous cultural hotspots of Shinjuku and in the business centers of Akasaka and Shinbashi. Meanwhile, hostels catering to the shoestring traveler lie scattered throughout the city. For a memorable, distinctly Japanese experience, seek out a ryokan, a traditional bed and breakfast with tatami floor mats and sliding screen doors.
