  • The dolphin show feels like they've been trained to look at it. It's a bit hard to see that the rest of the aquarium is very good for many different creatures, but after the dolphin show, it's possible that you will not go to the zoo Aquarium.

  • The Churaumi Aquarium and its surrounding parks and beach front is truly one of the "must visit" places in Okinawa. The aquarium itself was huge and multi-level with a huge glass tank that is easily t...  more »

  • Huge place! It's not just an aquarium, but also featured beautiful gardens with tropical plants, a nice beach, and a village with traditional Okinawan houses, among many other things. I was there for a whole day and could not finish seeing all of the places. The aquarium itself was also really cool - very big and had a lot of regional species which was great. The Okinawan waters are beautiful, and I'm glad I got to learn about them in detail!
  • This place contains amazing sea creatures. There are myriad of beautiful sea creatures that I have no seen before in my country. There are also the cute worm-like eel that is nice also. There are also manta ray and whale sharks which are pretty much their mascot and cannot be found in my country.
  • This is the best aquarium in the world I would say. It has amazing exhibits, informative staff and a litany of sea creatures. There is a tank so large that it holds two whale sharks. It is also the only aquarium in the world that actually breeds whale sharks. They have a dolphin show that is phenomenal. Included in the dolphin show is also a whale that swims around and does tricks. They have aquatic life that I have never seen at any other aquarium. There is a bioluminescent shrimp that shoots out glowing, blue liquid when startled.
  • Firstly it is worth knowing that discounted tickets can be purchased for the aquarium at any Lawson convenience store on the island. Parking was extremely easy, with several large parking lots. Grounds are immaculate, and there are beautiful views of the sea. The main aquarium was really wonderful, with so many great fish to see, and so much to learn. The main attraction is the largest tank, which holds the whale sharks and manta rays. It was great. There was also a café that was directly looking into the tank: well worth a stop! The downside was the outdoor tanks. This was where the turtles and manatees were kept. It was completely different to the main aquarium and these tanks were very small and dirty concrete tanks. We ended our day seeing these, which soured the experience. How such a wonderful aquarium can also have this area is a depressing puzzle.
  • By far the best aquarium I've visited! Love how they designed the tank where there's an area that resembles a showroom. The tank extends to the ceiling to allow fish to swim literally above you, which makes it pretty exciting when the pair of celebrity whale sharks make their round routine past the spot. My five-year-old was super delighted and begged me to take a ton of pictures of him, which is also a big deal because he's usually against taking pictures. Big moments that will last a lifetime!
