#2 of 393 in Parks in Tokyo
#Nature / Park, #Must See
A hub of cultural attractions, Ueno Park originally served as the gardens of the Kaneiji Temple during the Edo period. In 1873 it opened to the public as one of the first Western-style parks. An island temple to the goddess of fortune and beauty floats in its pond, while the national museum and art museum stand as bastions of Japan's rich heritage. Rest up between cultural sightseeing, stop by the zoo, or visit the market under the elevated train line. In the spring, join the flocks of visitors enjoying the over 800 blossoming cherry trees. • The Park is located two steps from UENO station and you will find many restaurants and hotels nearby. The Park is beautiful and it is very nice to wander quiet while UENO is relatively noisy. There are several monuments and a beautiful Lake on which you can walk by renting a boat. Also very popular running enthusiasts.

  • In the shade of the trees in the countryside a decent and a great spot. This is a relaxing and pleasant Park. There's a temple which is paid In entry also has a restaurant, a café in the Park Lake In Ueno Zoo there too but ... closed on Mondays and paid. At the end of the Museum in the Park mutllaka don't forget to travel. a delightful place. I appreciate your candor and not off the air I suggest you go these days. Park entry is free but the Zoo paid.

  • Popular, crowded place in cherry blossom festival. I was there in the morning of the late winter. Few people was in the park, it was very peaceful place for relaxation. I got tons of photos here with the snowy background. It seems wonderful in cherry blossom festival.
  • Beautiful park! Was here when it was not crowded. You can sit on the bench and watch a park performer, people passing by, or the small lake with swan boats. Very relaxing place.
  • One of THE most popular park in Japan to view cherry blossoms during the Sakura season because if its easy access from Ueno Station. Consequently it can become unbelievably crowded during that period. Otherwise, it's a nice park to stroll around especially in the morning.
  • So many museums and things to see in one spot! If you're a foreigner buy the "Ueno Passport" at the National Museum to get entry into everything for only 1500 yen. Saves a ton of money. Might take two days to go through all of the museums and shrines. Was our most productive, educational destination in Tokyo.
  • Beautiful park to see the cherry blossom. Thousand of trees with cherry blossom was breathtaking. However too crowded with people even on weekdays. You can choose to sit on the floor under the tree and have your picnic. Walked to the pond area to have a better view of cherry blossom and less crowded. Beautiful weather and free admission.. enjoy it
