  • The number one attraction in Christchurch. A Must. Admission is free but donation recommended. This place is big with lots of exhibition from dinosaurs fossils, Egyptian mummy, to 1900 village and Paua House and Antarctic Machinery. Allow 2 hours minimum. Kids will love the discovery Centre ($2)
  • Great place to hang out but some of the exhibitions might be a bit scary for children.
  • I spent a couple of hours walking through all the exhibitions. They had the HĀKUI || WOMEN 0F KĀI TAHU which was interesting as was the Māori Galleries which showed their daily way of life, their weapons & treasures. The Bird & ASIan Art was also interesting, loved Fred & Myrtle's Pāuā Shell House, what passion they had for the humble Pāuā Shell. Most of the exhibition was free. Good gift shop
