  • Incredible amount of attention to detail is evident throughout this museum and its exhibits. Although not too large overall to be completely overwhelmed by the information presented (as in some other ...  more »

  • Loved all the interactive and hands-on things on display. The recreated ship was amazing! Recommended for all ages. Even a quick walk through is very worthwhile.  more »

  • What an astonishing place! There is SO much to see and it's all really interesting. Not so much that it bores, and just enough for the Wow factor. It should be the main museum. It eclipses the Otago Museum by a mile! This really is a must see. Give yourself at least two hours.
  • Great museum where you can check out the artifacts from colonial times in Dunedin's rich and storied history. My favourite game to play each and every single time I'm there is to find the photo of somebody in the 'portrait room' that is smiling. Also can recommend going into the transportation through time section. Can never get enough of the tiger tea bus.
  • Great museum! Showcases the history of Dunedin from the time the Settlers arrived, with the tools they used, horse carts and much more. As you go through the rooms, it shows you the history of Dunedin in chronological order, up to old computers, floppy disks, etc. They even have an old Atari console. Definitely worth coming to! The only bad thing is that the Chinese Gardens at the end (optional) require a payment.
  • Great place to visit. Huge display area with very interesting first settlers photos with information. Also has a good coffee shop etc. Highly recommended
  • Beautiful museum. Definitely worth while visiting. Interesting artefacts from the time of the first settlers to today, very thoughtfully displayed. We spent way more time there than we had planned and ended our visit in the cafe where we had a good flat white and a cookie.
