Surrounded by lakes and featuring impressive areas of geothermal landscape, the city of Rotorua offers an otherwordly landscape and a welcoming, peaceful environment, with the culture of the native Maori people very much in the foreground.
Get some cultural insight at Tamaki Maori Village and Rotorua Museum. You'll visit kid-friendly attractions like Wingspan National Bird of Prey Centre and Agrodome. Step out of Rotorua with an excursion to Huka Falls tracks in Taupo--about 1h 20 min away. Spend the 14th (Mon) immersed in therapeutic waters at a local thermal spa. There's much more to do: take in the natural beauty of Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland, learn about winemaking at Volcanic Hills Winery, and steep yourself in history at Buried Village of Te Wairoa.
