Hyde Park, London

4.6
#3 of 3,804 in Parks in England
Sitting on 142 hectares (350 acres) in central London, Hyde Park is one of the city's largest and most attraction-rich green spaces. You'll find plenty of ways to enjoy yourself here no matter the season. Navigate the Serpentine lake by rowboat or pedal boat, or take a swim if you visit between June and September. Stop by the Diana Memorial, a fountain made of Cornish granite with water flowing down an embankment in two directions to meet in a pool at the bottom. Walk around Speakers' Corner, where luminaries such as Karl Marx, Vladimir Lenin, and George Orwell have given speeches, and many protests and demonstrations have taken place. Butterflies fly around in the summer and wildfowl visit in winter, and you can ride horses along two designated routes. If you plan to be in London during the first half of July, find out who's performing in the park's summer concert series. Tickets are usually in high demand, so you'll want to find out when they go on sale for any concerts you want to attend. • A park where I let the soul ... in the middle of London, much unspoiled nature to remain speechless! Clean, is a beauty to envy!

  • As beautiful as any country park. Fabulous trees. Lovely lake. Great gardens. Perfect for fun, families, walkers and sports enthusiasts. All credit to those who maintain these amazing spaces. Easy access.
  • A wonderful park to have lunch and park in with free parking for disabled people. You can tell the royal parks have put in effort to make it accessible with very smooth paths. The staff and volunteers who run the buggy service definitely need more training on invisible disabilities and understanding that young people can be disabled too.
  • Great open space to walk the dogs with lots of areas to stop an explore or have a rest. Toilets aren't free as standard but if you know where to look there are ways around it. Plenty of pubs around the perimeter for a more substantial stop and lunch.
  • Hyde Park is Hyde Park. It's really big, green and beautiful. Living in London I would definitely prefer to go to other parks, first because I prefer the more "wild" parks, second because this is usually full of tourists. But anyway, nothing to complain about this, too. There are even bathroms somewhere in the center, they were free, I hope they still are. There are often nice events around. This is kind of London own "central park".
  • Great park, well taken care of. Big enough that you don't feel there's too many people. Has a lot going on with frequent events, boating, the princess of Wales commemoration fountain and it's accessibility to central London.
