#6 of 220 in Museums in London
Marvel at lifelike wax figures of the world's most famous actors and actresses, athletes, entertainers, and politicians at Madame Tussauds London. This is the original site of the museum that's become a franchise in nine other cities around the globe. Wax sculptor Marie Tussaud established the museum in 1884, and today it houses over 300 figures. The figures on display change frequently to keep up with the times, but you can expect to find sculptures of famous people from both the past and present. After viewing the exhibits, sit for a 4-D movie on a 360-degree screen, and then enter the Scream! house of horrors. Purchase your tickets online before you visit to reduce both the price of admission and your wait to enter. • It isn't just about wax statues.... The collection of wax statues is humongous. All the who's who are there and few from the history who made it big to the history. Apart from wax statues, there are a...  more »
  • Polite staff, the entry price is a bit high if you don't symperiechetai. Wax figures of people from many areas of culture, politics etc. Each floor contains replicas of people and things in a particular area. The coaster at various times passes from England is enchanting.

  • Bit disappointed by the amount of actual wax figures, I thought there could have been more & a little more up to date but those on display are very life like. There is a ride through, the history of London which is great fun & a fantastic Marvel 3D movie at the end. We quite enjoyed the whole experience.
  • VERY VERY Bad Customer Service. Open till 0600 is a lie. They closed at 0400 pm. Many people stand in front and are VERY angry about this terrible service. When you search, at witch time this stage is open, you find ... till 0600 pm. we have paid for the visit and stand in front of closed doors. until today no money back and also no excuse for a family with child
  • Great place. Figures are very realistic. Sound fixture and lights make it even more. Whole place is air conditioned. Inside many gift shops. PS Such as toilets (parents know how important it is ;-) ). 5D Cinema inside (with great show, be by the way). Greate please to visit. One of "must see" in UK. Very kind stuff works there.
  • Very good experience. BUT! Be sure to book tickets beforehand, and arrive at the site early. Otherwise you might see yourself in queues for half the day. The experience itself once you enter, is amazing. Well worth the price, and time spent travelling.
  • Ticketing experience was bad. Need to stand on long queue for nearly two hours even after voucher ticket. They must find ways to improve it. Remaining experience was great. Don't miss it. for remaining all its Five Star. Sherlock Holmes experience was nice.

Where to stay in London

Many of London's main attractions are spread out, so nearby public transportation is key. There is no downtown area as such in London, and some of the least expensive hotels have more convenient access to tourist sites than the costlier ones. For a quintessential London experience, consider staying in the West End. This part of town offers excellent theaters, historical sites, and eating and shopping options for every taste. Lodging won’t be cheap, but you’ll have the colorful variety of London life right at your doorstep. Look at Notting Hill or Chelsea for charming and less expensive boutique hotels and B&Bs.
